Are Microplastics Everywhere?

More than 90% of bottled water brands contain microplastics.3 In some cases, concentrations reach as high as 240,000 plastic particles per liter.4 What’s more, new research finds bottled water may contain 100 times more plastic particles than previously thought.5
What are Microplastics?
Microplastics are tiny plastic particles smaller than five millimeters that form when larger plastic materials break down. Unlike organic materials that fully biodegrade, plastics slowly fragment into smaller and smaller pieces that can remain in the environment for decades.
